Meet Scott Franklin

He’s a businessman who served our country in the U.S. Navy.
Congressman Scott Franklin is a conservative Republican, U.S. Navy veteran, and small business owner who is fighting every day to defend American values and deliver results for Florida’s Heartland.

Now serving in his third term in Congress, Scott represents Florida’s 18th Congressional District, where he brings a mission-focused, results-driven approach shaped by a lifetime of service.

Scott served our nation as a Naval Aviator for 26 years, (14 active and 12 reserve) flying combat missions and operating from the decks of 13 aircraft carriers. He deployed to the Mediterranean, the Persian Gulf, and the North Atlantic, with combat operations in the Gulf, Bosnia, and Kosovo. After the attacks of September 11, he was recalled to active duty with U.S. Central Command. His military experience instilled in him the importance of strength, accountability, and putting America first.

After his military service, Scott ran a successful insurance business in Lakeland, Florida for two decades. He understands firsthand the challenges families and job creators face and knows how government overreach, excessive regulation, and reckless spending can hold back economic growth.

In Congress, Scott is a leader on fiscal responsibility and national security. He serves on the powerful House Appropriations Committee, where he is Vice Chair of the Agriculture, Rural Development, and Food and Drug Administration Subcommittee. He also serves on the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee and the Energy and Water Development Subcommittee, helping ensure strong support for our military, veterans, infrastructure, and American energy independence.

Scott also serves on the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, where he chairs the Environment Subcommittee, leading efforts to promote American innovation, strengthen domestic resource development, and push back against burdensome regulations that threaten economic growth.

He is a strong advocate for Florida agriculture, working to protect farmers and ranchers from devastating weather events, reduce regulatory burdens, and ensure a stable and secure food supply. He is also focused on strengthening America’s defense posture, securing the border, restoring fiscal discipline in Washington, and holding the federal government accountable to taxpayers.

A man of faith and family, Scott and his wife Amy have been married for more than 35 years and have three adult children. They are active members of First Presbyterian Church of Lakeland, where Scott serves as an elder.

Scott is a 1986 graduate of the United States Naval Academy and holds an MBA from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. He has also completed advanced leadership training at the Armed Forces Staff College and the Wharton Executive Leadership Development Program.

From the cockpit to the boardroom to Congress, Scott Franklin has dedicated his life to service, leadership, and results. In Washington, he continues to fight to protect the freedoms, values, and opportunities that make America exceptional and to ensure Florida’s 18th District remains strong, secure, and prosperous.
