Scott Franklin is a conservative Republican, a U.S. Navy veteran, and a successful businessman who understands that freedom isn’t free. He has lived a life of service, both in uniform and in the private sector. He brings that commitment to his role in Congress.
Scott served as a Naval Aviator for 26 years - 14 years on active duty and 12 in the reserves. He flew jets from the decks of 13 aircraft carriers and was deployed to the Mediterranean, the Persian Gulf, and the North Atlantic. His combat experience includes operations in the Gulf, Bosnia, and Kosovo. Following the attacks of 9/11, he was recalled to active duty with U.S. Central Command.
In the private sector, Scott owned and operated a successful business in Lakeland, Florida for 20 years. He knows what it takes to make payroll and grow a business, and he’s seen firsthand how burdensome regulations and government overreach can stifle American prosperity.
Scott is a man of faith and family. He and his wife of more than 30 years, Amy, have three adult children. They are active members of First Presbyterian Church of Lakeland, where Scott serves as an elder.
Dedicated to his community, Scott has served on numerous local boards and civic organizations supporting the people of Lakeland. Now in his third term in Congress, he represents Florida’s 18th Congressional District. He serves on the powerful House Appropriations Committee, with assignments on the Subcommittees for Agriculture, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Energy and Water Development. He also serves on the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, where he chairs the Environment Subcommittee.
He is a 1986 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, holds an MBA from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and is a graduate of both the Armed Forces Staff College and the Wharton Executive Leadership Development Program.
In Congress, Scott is working to advance the America First agenda of President Donald Trump—to grow our economy, secure the border, defend our nation from enemies abroad, protect the Second Amendment, and protect the unborn. He is committed to restoring trust, respect, and integrity to public service—and to ensuring the people of Central Florida have a strong voice in Washington.
Scott was born in Thomaston, Georgia, and later his family moved to Lakeland, where he graduated high school. The call to join the military is a deep-rooted tradition in his family, which has defended freedom in every major war since the birth of our nation.
He is a 1986 graduate of the United States Naval Academy and has a Masters in Business Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Scott is also a graduate of the Armed Forces Staff College and Wharton’s Executive Leadership Development Program.
In his free time, Scott enjoys flying planes and mountain climbing. He has summited the highest peaks on three continents and has his sights set on others.
